What Is RxSpan MD?
RxSpan MD is the telehealth practice of Dr John Diaz, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills with more than twenty years in practice, who describes the company as dedicated to helping patients "extend their healthspan through thoughtfully prescribed medications". It covers weight loss, longevity, hormones, hair loss and sexual health, and it runs on the CareValidate telehealth platform rather than software of its own — its support address is at carevalidate.com.
What sets it apart is format range. Most compounded providers sell semaglutide and tirzepatide as injections, and a growing number add one oral option. RxSpan MD lists both molecules as injections, as oral capsules and as oral dissolving tablets, plus microdose versions of each, plus a combination product it calls "GLP Squared" — the widest set of GLP-1 formats we have catalogued anywhere. The ODTs are the cheapest things on the list at $179/month for semaglutide and $199/month for tirzepatide.
The unglamorous parts are genuinely good. The telehealth visit is priced at $0. Shipping is priced at $0. Registered dietitian support is priced at $0. Unlimited appointments and messaging with 24/7 specialist access are included. The site's "No Hidden Fees" claim holds up on that side of the ledger, and the practice displays a LegitScript certification seal.
Then there is the brand-name price list, and it is startling. RxSpan MD lists Wegovy at $1,349/month, Ozempic at $1,299, and Zepbound and Mounjaro at $1,069/month each. Novo Nordisk sells Wegovy direct through NovoCare Pharmacy at $199/month for the pen and $149/month for the pill; Eli Lilly sells Zepbound self-pay through LillyDirect from $299/month. Buying brand-name medication through RxSpan MD costs roughly five to seven times what buying it from the manufacturer does. Nothing about that is hidden — but nothing about it is a good deal either, and it is the single most important thing to know before you pick a plan here.

RxSpan MD's own product notes state that "medications only issued when clinically appropriate after provider evaluation", and its terms confirm providers determine whether a prescription is appropriate. You must be 18 or over. The assessment asks you to pick a weight-loss goal band — 1–20 lb, 25–50 lb, 50 lb or more, or still exploring.

- Longer terms are prepaid. Semaglutide injection at twelve months is $2,327 up front; tirzepatide injection at twelve months is $3,228.
- One oddity worth catching: the "GLP Squared" injection is $179 month-to-month but $597 for three months — $199/month. The commitment price is higher than the flexible one.

About Compounded GLP-1s
The FDA declared the tirzepatide shortage resolved in December 2024 and the semaglutide shortage resolved in February 2025, which ended the window for compounding pharmacies to make large volumes of copies of those drugs (503A pharmacies had until April 22, 2025; 503B outsourcing facilities until May 22, 2025). Many telehealth companies continue to offer compounded GLP-1s prescribed for an individual patient — often as a personalized dose, a microdose, or a formulation combined with a vitamin such as B12 or B6. That practice sits in a contested legal area, and the FDA has continued to act. In a Federal Register notice published on May 1, 2026, the FDA proposed not to include semaglutide, tirzepatide or liraglutide on the 503B bulks list, saying it had not identified sufficient evidence of a clinical need for outsourcing facilities to compound them from bulk substances; the comment period was extended to July 30, 2026. Separately, in February 2026 the FDA issued warning letters to 30 telehealth companies over false or misleading claims about compounded GLP-1s, and it has continued: a further round dated 8 June 2026 — 25 warning letters, posted publicly on 16 June 2026 — reached companies including Medica Weight Loss, FITISH and Roen Health (RoenRx), again over false or misleading claims about compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide that the FDA said made the products misbranded under sections 502(a) and 502(bb) of the FD&C Act. The claims cited included suggesting the products were FDA-approved, implying equivalence to Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or Zepbound, and asserting the "same active ingredient" or "same results" as the approved drugs. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, which means they have not gone through the same review as the brand-name products.

What is the difference between the injection, the oral capsule and the ODT?
They are three delivery formats for the same compounded active ingredient. The injection is the format the clinical evidence for semaglutide and tirzepatide was built on. The oral capsule is swallowed; the oral dissolving tablet dissolves under the tongue. Neither oral format is the same as the FDA-approved oral products — Wegovy tablets and Foundayo — and neither has been through their trials. The ODTs are the cheapest option at RxSpan MD, which is worth knowing but is not by itself a clinical reason to pick one.
